Grissom Robotics welcomes our Assistant Coach, Grissom teacher, Mr. Luke Sheehan!
Saturday, January 7, was the official release of the 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition game challenge, STEAMWORKS! Since we were unable to participate together due to the weather cancellations, most of the Grissom Robotics team watched the Kickoff event through live streaming. We will have from now until February 21 (42 days!) to design, build, test, and program a robot that can play this amazing game!
For each 2.5 minute match, 2 Alliances of 3 robots will play against each other, with a 15-second autonomous period followed by joystick-controlled ‘Teleop’ play. Points are earned by adding ‘fuel’ to a boiler, gears to rotors on an ‘Airship,’ and attaching the robot to a rope to prepare for flight! Competitions are in March.
